Today I want to share my favourite books with you. This blog focuses on career advice and I want to go beyond the obvious stuff.
I love reading and I also love audio books. Some books have had a profound impact on me in my career and have helped me find the right direction for what I want to do. Plus, they often help me understand other people and situations better.
So here are a couple of books that I think you should read 😉 and that I am certain will help you rethink aspects of your career and your personal life:
The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
In his book, Easter describes how our comfortable modern life has a negative impact on what we’re truly capable of as humans. It makes us complacent.
Don’t worry, this isn’t an endorsement of hustle culture. Rather, he explains how our minds and bodies are so amazing and adaptable but that in our modern societies we rarely encounter situations that truly challenge us to reveal our full potential.
I loved listening to Easter’s book because I learned a lot about the human body and mind and it inspired me to make changes for my own mental and physical health.
Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell
Martell opened my eyes to something I had already known about but hadn’t implemented in my own life.
Buy Back Your Time encourages you to rethink what tasks and activities you spend your time on and what you could delegate or outsource to others. Why? Because time is very finite and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
To increase the amount of time you have for your family, friends, hobbies etc, you’ll need to find ways to do less or to do things differently.
In this book Martell shows you how to do exactly that.
What About Men? By Caitlin Moran
I’ve long been a fan of Moran’s work and her latest book is – once again – fantastic.
As a well known feminist, the topic of men and what goes on in their lives, may be a surprising one but Moran tackles it with grace and humour and a big amount of care.
I don’t want to give away too much, but I highly recommend this book to all of you. To the women who have men in their lives. And to the men who will hopefully feel seen and heard and understood.
And those are my 3 book recommendations for you this summer.
What books do you suggest I read next? I’d love to hear from you, so please comment with any book recommendations you have. Let me know what impact those books had.
Have a great week!
