Achieving goals takes time. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Being patient is often difficult, because we set our sights on a target and become disheartened with how much time it requires to achieve it and how much effort is needed along the way.

But the time that passes is a chance for us to actually be ready for what comes next. It allows us to mature, grow, learn and figure things out.

So that when we reach our goals, we’re actually in a good place to handle the added responsibility that comes with being in this new phase of our lives.

In our careers it’s actually helpful to not progress at lightning speed, but to also make time for deliberate learning, growth and for us to mature in our roles and responsibilities. There are certain things which simply need time.

In all of this it is important that we don’t compare ourselves to others who are further ahead, have more money, do more things, etc. They started in a different place, might have very different support systems (paid help anyone?) and so on.

Stay true to your own path and focus on your own growth and development. And don’t worry if it takes a year longer. No one is tracking.
